The Queensland rules
- Licence needed for building work over $3,300 (hydraulic services design over $1,100).
- Licence needed at any value for building design, chemical termite management, completed residential building inspections, fire protection, gas fitting, mechanical services, plumbing and drainage, and site classification.
- Your company must hold its own QBCC licence. Trading as a company under your personal licence is a breach (to verify with Dan).
- Unlicensed work can void the owner's Queensland Home Warranty Insurance.
Official regulator: Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Rules change, so check the regulator page too.
